Who We Are

Janis Iourovitski
Janis grew up in Palo Alto, CA and recently graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she studied bioinformatics and mechanical engineering. She has experience in new product development, designing adaptive technologies, and leading engineering teams. In her free time, she enjoys surfing, backpacking, and painting.

Summer Duffy
Summer is from Fullerton, California and recently graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. She has experience in design and manufacturing, point-of-care diagnostics, global health, and microfluidics. In her free time, Summer enjoys reading and playing soccer.

Christina Hummel
Christina Hummel is originally from Long Island, New York and recently completed her Bachelor's of Science degree in bioengineering at Clemson University in South Carolina. She has technical experience in biomaterials engineering, orthopedic medical devices, and design for global health initiatives. In her free time, Christina loves to read and spend time at the beach.

Joshua Blair
Joshua is from Sterling, Virginia and recently graduated from the University of Virginia with a major in Biomedical Engineering and minor in Entrepreneurship. His experience in product development and startups. In his free time, he enjoys running, tennis and mixing music.

Spencer Shumway
Spencer is most recently from Salt Lake City, Utah. After dropping out of BYU he spent the past 5 years found small companies around novel medical technologies. He loves his babies and being outside.

Rebecca Rosenberg
Rebecca is the second year fellow on the VectorCAM project! She graduated from Bucknell University in 2020 with a degree in biomedical engineering and came immediately into CBID. In her free time, Rebecca works on developing assistive technologies for people with vision impairments.

Dr. Soumya Acharya
Dr. Acharya is a tinkerer, physician, and entrepreneur. He enjoys traveling the globe with students smarter than himself.
